More than meets the eye!

After reading Nathan's comment about Transformers, I feel like I want to add my $6 and 90 cents. That's the price of an adult movie ticket in Brisbane IIRC, where I saw Transformers. We're getting ripped off in NZ!

I loved the movie. And so can you! The key is to turn your brain off. Too much thinking detracts from the enjoyment of watching robots fight. You can even have a chuckle at some of the one-liners, some of them I think were genuinely funny. Plot was poor, but irrelevent anyway, because these are Transformers, the plot was a bit far-fetched to begin with. I also agree with Nathan about the wholesomely sterotypical characters. Again, no brain required. She is pretty female with tight pants => love interest, he is young male => hero, she is token Australian female who talks like she knows what 'signal processing' is => smartest person on the planet. Product placement is also huge. Naturally, secret government departments will use Apple computers and Nokia phones, and extra terrestrial machines will prefer to disguise themselves as General Motors vehicles.

Great movie. Go see it!

If anyone in Wellington is interested, I've recently bought season 1 of the original cartoon series. Come round and watch it with me, it's great!

Harry Potter was ok. There was this super irritating person a couple of rows behind us that I wanted to stab in the eye with a straw though.

I agree it's definitely a Brain Donor-Friendly movie, it's just that there needed to be more of the Transformers in the earlier parts. I'm betting once all the excitement dies down, the hot chick and Bumblebee will realise they're too cool for the main guy and ditch him.
Having said that, I also liked it. Fanboys can spot all the quotes from the original series.
Which IS great, by the way - I have the first three episodes, and it really brings the memories back. Optimus Prime is so the man.
