It's pretty miserable weather outside. At least the days are getting slightly warmer, and I'm quite pleased that when I leave Uni in the evenings, there is still some light.
I thought I'd post an update on my car. It still looks like a poor bird whose had its wings clipped, although it is drivable, if not legally so. I've had a car alarm installed, complete with nice flashing LED, and shock sensors that should go off if the car gets shaken around too much. It goes off when I kick the tyres at least. I've never had to deal with panelbeaters before, but the guys at Blair Wright in Johnsonville seem to be pretty friendly. I think the process is being held up a bit because the parts I need aren't all that common, which partially explains why they were stolen in the first place.
My grumblings about State Insurance have subsided somewhat, especially since Claire and I did some research into a few of the other insurance providers. It turns out that State is actually quite good value, at least compared with AMI and Tower.
On the PhD front, I had a bit of excitement this week. I dreamt up a new way of processing the range data from the camera (much of this won't make sense to people not familiar with my project), ie, a different way of calculating the phase of a sampled sine wave to the standard FFT / Inner Product method. Now if I can do enough research of existing literature, and it turns out that noone has done it this way before, I'll already be on my way to a journal publication. Yay for me!

Wow, just the other day I came up with a new way to calibrate the cosine waveform factor phase...variation...factor. Thing. Ahem.
Anyway, still sucks about your car...
