I bought a new game the other day. I was so excited to have a new game, as I always am, and I even had a read of the user manual while I was waiting for Claire to finish work. I didn't get to play my game that night. Or the following morning. And not until 20 hours after I'd bought it did I even get around to installing it on My Computer. That's a long time for me to be excited. The game is Civilization IV, and I expect it to be good since I've really liked all the others.
So I'm at My Computer yesterday installing this game, knowing that I have about 4 Claire-free hours in which to play it. Then, once I'm 10 minutes into it My Computer just shuts down... No warning, no windows error, just total power down. Noooooo. I manage to restart it, but the same thing happens over and over.
Any computer gurus out there might be thinking that my CPU is over heating, and it's shutting down to prevent it blowing up. You might be half right, except that I've tried running the game with My Computer's case open in front of me, and the CPU's heat sink isn't very hot at all. On the other hand, I do note that the power supply fan isn't spinning at all, not a good sign.
Pero from Claire's work is going to lend me a spare power supply he has, so I'll plug that in and hope it fixes the problem. If it doesn't I'm going to be pretty lost for ideas. Claire is going away to her parents for the weekend, so I really want this game to work for me. It might come down to me spending 'extra' time at uni over the weekend.
In other news, it's only 29 more days till our wedding. Claire has written a countdown on the calendar. I like to do some extra math and say 29 + 2 = 31 more days till we're on our Hawaiian cruise honeymoon. Yaya!

Heh I have Civ IV...it's good fun. Word of advice: get Archery ASAP. Or the barbarians will kill and eat you.
If you get the game working, that is.
