Hmm, yes. Well after Adrian's very techno-jumble blog and my I'm-a-not-so-happy-Claire one, I feel like I need to blog more light-heartedly, especially since you guys haven't heard from me in so long.
I am having a good afternoon. Adrian and I drove back from Palmerston North today; we visited his Dad (Paul) because it's Paul's birthday on Wednesday. He took us out for Indian. I think, about a year ago, I didn't like Indian at all. In fact, it's Paul's favourite and a few years ago he took us to rather a fancy Indian restaurant for dinner and I had chicken nuggets. Hmm... that's rather ignorant and stubborn of me. However, that was the first time I was ever introduced to mango lassi. Mmmm, mango lassi. For those of you who haven't tried it, you're missing out man. So... a little while later (not sure when) I tried Indian for the first time when Paul took us out again to his favourite, Mr India in Palmerston North. I think I had lamb rogan josh. Twas quite good... and now, I can't get enough! Lamb madras is my thing, accompanied by garlic naan and of course, mango lassi. Tulsi in Petone make the best lamb madras I've tasted so far. Mmmmmm it's so good. And their tikka masala is pretty damn good too. Maybe Tulsi is just the best Indian restaurant ever. Surprisingly, and this might be revealing my commonness, Shamiana in Westfield Queensgate is I think the second best lamb madras I've tasted. So maybe foodcourt food isn't all that bad...
However, Indian isn't really that great health wise. And speaking of health, you probably all know how I lost 25kg a little while back. Well, I've put on about 4-5 again. I know, I know, that's not much at all compared to how much I lost in the first place. But what it does mean is that I can't fit any of my pants except for my old jeans that I bought just before I reached my goal weight. SO I have made a deal with myself to get back into exercise a little bit more (since here in Wellington we are blessed with those horrid hills). I went for a 40min jog/walk yesterday and today and they felt really good. So I'll try keep you updated.
Adrian and I test drove a 2007 BMW 116d (118d?). It was SO fun. The diesel is really nice to drive... and the first time I've ever driven tiptronic. Or 'Steptronic' as BMW choose to call it. The salesmen say 'you can choose to drive it as an automatic or a manual' which is a bit of a lie really. There's still no clutch, and though this makes the transitions between gears a lot smoother and quicker, it is nowhere near as fun. You need to get the clutch in and feel that grind for it to be fun (maybe the 'grind' only exists in my car? Food for thought...) Anyhoo, clearly we can't afford a brand new one, but we are thinking seriously about buying a used one; the diesel seems appealing. The drive was real smooth and apparently because the diesels have more torque you can drive them real hard into corners and up hills and stuff to get the most out of the engine. Fun! And the car was very 'us'. Not sure what that says about the car...
Well that's about all for now. Love you all :)
