Continued tales of London...

Sorry for the wait on the next installment...

So the next day (Tuesday I believe) I decided to direct my shopping better - I had things to get, and dammit, if there was one place in the world where I could find everything I could ever need, it would be Harrods. No, I'm joking, it's London (in general).

So I took the bus from Grandma's and Grandpa's corner to Brent Cross, a mighty shopping centre not too far away, in between Mill Hill and the city. I troddled around for about 2 hours and didn't find everything I needed, so decided I had to further my shopping field. I got lunch from Marks and Spencers and ate it at the bus stop while I waited for a bus to go BACK to Hendon Central cos I couldn't find a bus that went directly to the city from Brent Cross. So I went back to HC, got off the bus in the rain, and waited for a different numbered one to get back to the city. Ahh, the joys of an unlimited trip day bus pass.

I found myself in the Bond/ Oxford Street area again, and found extra things I needed there. I didn't end up leaving until about 4.35. I thought, pah, London rush hour - it will be an experience. Well, the experience was only interesting for the first hour. I found out later there had been an accident at G&G's corner, so the traffic was backed up for ages. I was on a bus, and it was 6.55 by the time I got back to G&G. Man! I've learnt my lesson there.

The next day (Wednesday) we had organised for my cousin Stephen to come up from his parents' in Surrey on the train, then bus to G&G to 'pick me up'. He is in between jobs at the moment so he had all the time in the world for entertaining :)

From there we didn't really know what to do so we went into the city (again) on the bus and had lunch at Debenham's (a big fancy department store on Oxford Street). After that we pretty much just wandered around the city, with the intention of getting to Victoria station at about 5.30 for the bus. We had coffee and waffles near Picadilly Circus and ended up walking around St James Park, the one that's in front of Buckingham Palace. There were lots and lots of squirrels (I love squirrels) and they were so friendly (or confidently greedy), some of them just ran up to you and sniffed you straight away. Because I'd never seen so many squirrels in this season (usually I'm there in winter), I also got to see for the first time the little cuties 'harvesting' their acorns (the Park is filled with oak trees) and digging little holes for them all over the grass to push them into. Man, it was so cute, I just wanted to scoop one up and bring it home.

We took the train to Sutton where my Auntie Dee picked us up. That night we went to a restaurant near their house. It was so nice, not only the 4-course Italian meal and the wine and to be spoilt, but just having a meal with them. Whenever I go over to see all my family in the UK I think about how cool it would be if I got to spend more time with them... so I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the table with them, listening to the normal family conversation - noone being able to get a word in cos Stephen was always talking ;) I love you guys! (if you're reading, which you're probably not, cos I think we have rather a small audience)

Love xxx and a very exciting next intallment to come! (I promise, it's more interesting than this one)
