2008

I got two meeces named Pico and Nano
I bought my first pair of GHDs
I married my best friend, soulmate and lover
(just one person, not three different ones).

I saw my grandparents in London
I went to a village called Wank
I had a massage on a cruise ship
somewhere off the islands of Hawai'i.

I learnt the word humuhumunukunukuapua'a
I learnt that the Philippines has 7,107 islands
I learnt the (very) fundamentals of programming in Python
I used an in-car GPS for the first time.

I realised how much I could
be friends with my cousin Stephen
if he didn't live in the UK.
Damn my spread-out family.

I rode on all the rides at Movie World
I asked to be let off the Batwing Spaceshot...
The ride assistant said
'oh, you'll be fine'. I was.

I went on the Superman Escape ride
freaked out, and then
did it again.
Ahh, adrenaline.

I shopped in Taiwan, where
they have endless amounts
of cute, cute, cute.
And also thousands of scooters.

I took photos of humpback whales
in the Pacific Ocean
and cruised past the Na Pali coast.
I helicoptered over the Waimea Canyon.

I bought a friend for my desk...
his name is Jimmy and
he looks suspiciously like a cactus.
I don't question him though.

I got my motorbike learner licence
and decided I was too useless
to learn to ride.
Now I ride to work almost every day.

I found an awesome hairdresser
and a style I was amazed by
but then left because
her staff were unbearably useless.

I got a job where
I have my own desk and
lots of pay and time and benefits
but not much to do.

I work with $10,000 thermometers
capable of ridiculous accuracy
in a government research agency
Keeping Standards, for you.

I discovered some funky new music
including Robyn, Kings of Leon and Duffy
and get to listen to it in my new car
which I got in April.

I rediscovered my geek side
stumbled upon thinkgeek.com
bought a t-shirt featuring Schrodinger's Cat
and discussed entropy for an hour with my boss.

I discovered online radio streaming
the glory of a Thermos flask
mows.com, i can has cheezburger, and Facebook
and the patience of my beautiful husband.
