marvelling

How can one so dark and sleek
conversely be so light and sweet?
The little tuft gives you away
when you come to make my day.
With your voice you fascinate,
so I have to stop and wait
until your awkward song is through.

Your friend afar sings back to you.
With eyes closed I stand and listen;
I feel the need to breathe you in.
Clicks and clacks ring through the trees;
they swim to me upon the breeze,
fill me ears with glee, delight
and my mind with warmth and light.
Do you know, little wing,
how you please me when you sing?
You and your friends, you must stay,
to help me through another day.
