Avatar in 3D

Cool, the spoiler tags worked :)

Claire and I just went to see Avatar in 3D - with the cool glasses and stuff. The movie is really quite lacking in terms of plot - it is really a very generic science fiction storyline. So generic in fact that about 6 key scenes in the movie I'd already predicted to happen about an hour before they happened. I'll go into that a bit more later.

You know what? I really really liked this movie! My expectations weren't very high thanks to other reviews Claire and I had read - basically what I said before about the very thin storyline. But I do think the movie is very cool and very well done. Everything is shown in 3D of course, but while there are some bits that they just had to do, like animals charging at the camera to freak you out, I don't think it was over done to make it gimmicky. I especially liked the effect of looking through windows and cracked glass and such. I think they blended the CGI (what does the 'I' stand for anyway? [Imagery, as in Computer Generated Imagery, thanks wikipedia]) and the real actors really well, although there were times where I felt like I was watching a computer game.

I think the coolest thing is that this movie and hopefully others like it to come could be the new reason for people to actually go to the cinemas again.

Now, for the spoiler tags - if you don't want the story ruined for you, then
