Goodbye little Pico

On Saturday morning we had to say goodbye to the little Pico mouse. She was not very well and had a skin problem which made her itch constantly. I took her to the vet a while ago and we tried a treatment but it didn't do any good and the itching just kept getting worse. It was a hard decision to make because she was still eating fine and running around with lots of energy. I also felt so mean, but it is all too easy to 'humanise' the emotions of animals. Really she had no notion it was her 'last day' etc. and the itching no doubt was annoying her to say the least. But little Pico, the vet put her to sleep very kindly and quickly, and when she was sleeping, she wasn't scratching anymore.

Nano is quite lonely now I think. She spends most of the time in her house and doesn't seem to be eating much or running in the wheel. Hopefully she'll be fine with lots of cuddles and attention, and just sad because she's lost her little buddy.
