- The toilet is close to my office
- The people are nice
- The work is interesting
- Not having to adjust to an entirely new industry
- Payday is weekly (appears on a Saturday... very dangerous)
- There are lots of things to do and opportunities I can see already
- There is a bakery which sells espresso next door
- The kitchenette has an automatic home-sized espresso machine
Things I will miss:
- Bunnies and ducks outside (along with green and lots of space in general)
- Being a part of world class scientific research
- Getting basically anything you want for your job, including an ergonomically almost-perfect chair set-up, new computer, $200,000+ equipment. I guess this, as well as job security and benefits, is encompassed by:
- Working for the government (even if it was indirectly)
- Getting to work inside of 15 minutes, with zero traffic stress
- Not having to do lunch dishes
- Not having a cafe
- Moving to a new building in May because 1) it's exciting and 2) it will generate lots of work for me
- Taking Claire-esque stationery, photos etc. to my new desk
- Making a positive difference to the company
- Getting to know the people better
