Unfortunately it's because my new job is very much busier than my last one. I am there for about 5 hours each day, and every minute is pretty packed. Very unusually, yesterday afternoon I actually ran out of client jobs to do. But within a minute I remembered something else I could do which was lower priority. Being busy is great, and I am learning lots. But I find my creative juices do not have time to start flowing, even when I read an incensing NZ Herald article during my lunchtime (which happens quite often, and when I was at MSL I could usually find time to blog about it).
Adrian is currently playing squash so I have been lazing not doing much. Actually I've done lots (and lots) of washing, but that doesn't exactly feel like an acheivement for a Saturday afternoon! I often feel disappointed when I don't get into any crafts while I have time, but I also have to be in the mood and have the aforementioned juices flowing. I am also aware I haven't written any poetry for a while, and I'm not sure why that is, apart from the apparent change in spare time.
A couple of weeks ago Adrian graduated with his PhD which was really awesome :) It was great to visit Wellignton again (I miss it). We had *spectacular* coffee (twice, we went back for more, at Cafe Panama), but unfortunatly since we were only there for 1 night we didn't get the chance to visit anyone.
Last weekend Adrian and I went to Waiheke Island for a mini-holiday. Sooo funny on Friday night - by the time we got over there on the ferry, got the bus to Onetangi and got off at our stop, it was about 8pm. We started walking up Waiheke Road which was to lead us to the bach we had booked on Victoria Road North. The roads around there had no streetlights or footpaths and we also had our luggage (quite a lot for just 2 nights). The following conversation ensued. The only thing left to say is that Adrian had done all the routing beforehand (perhaps this was then my fault, for not double-checking the man-map).
Adrian: Here it is - Victoria Rd.
[Both looking up at road sign.]
Claire: [warily] That says Victoria Road SOUTH, Adrian.
Adrian: What? They're the same thing, aren't they?
Claire: [facepalm] No. It usually means they're either very, very long, or they are in a completely different place.
Adrian: Oh. [Gets out iPhone.]
It was very funny at the time! Adrian had directed us to the "South" version which was at least one bus stop before we would have gotten off for the "North" version. I had to laugh, because otherwise I would have cried, haha. I was quite tired! Anyway we got there eventually and it was quite a nice weekend.
The beautiful Rangitoto.
A strange moment.
View from the sunny morning patio.
Wine tasting at Saratoga with the owner's dog. Dog envy!
This afternoon I had a play with eye make-up. I was feeling creative (though not in the usual way!) so I took some eye photos.
Adrian is on his way home and I have just discovered there is a NZ Symphony Orchestra show on tonight at the Town Hall so we might go to that.
