Pets, Planting and Pests

Adrian and I went to the Auckland Pet Expo this morning. It was pretty neat-o. There was a mouse-playground: a really big tank (1 metre long?) with all sorts of mice playthings inside it and lots and lots of mice. Cute! We also saw:

• Greyhounds as Pets (I still soooo want one. One day!)
• very soft bunnies (mini rex?)
• a massive bull mastiff who still had growing to do
• lots of petfood stands with ideas for our fussy kittehs. Including Royal Canin food designed for Fussy Cats. Perfect! We got some little samples.
• Devon Rex and Sphynx cats. The Rex was gorgeous; Adrian wasn't convinced. Maybe if I brought one home and called it Tyrannosaurus he would be more accepting.
• A Guess-the-amount-of-kibble-in-the-jar competition, for which Adrian methodically went about deciding how many kibble would fit within a square centimetre and then approximating the volume of the jar (FYI his guess was 3120)
• A tiny 9-week old cream chihuahua. Not my personal choice of dog, but puppies are always adorable, no matter what breed.

This afternoon we went to Bunnings and bought stuff for planting veges. We got pots, seeds, vegetable potting mix and gloves. So we now have pots with red chillies, spring onion, coriander, lettuce, spinach and capsicum. It's quite a lot of pressure trying to grow plants :/ Let's hope they come up. They all look decidedly dull atm, not helped by the fact we got black pots!

Then I checked the mailbox and there was a stupid creationist flyer in it. It REALLY annoys me when people put junk in my mailbox because it has "No Junk Mail" on it. So I called him and told him to keep his junk out of my box*.

In other news, it is now only 1 month, 24 days, 2 hours (according to the countdown to your right at time of writing) until our holiday. Yay! I am counting down for that. Also we are thinking about another cruise next year... we are kind of cruise snobs tbh ;)


*haha at the euphemism but it does not actually work in this context.
