The end is nigh

It seems that no one is nice anymore. No, I take that back. But it does seem that if you find a nice person these days you have stumbled upon an incredible bonus. I'm not talking about friends and acquaintances here, I'm talking about the general public and those who are supposed to give us grand customer service in order for us to give them money again and again.

On the 26 June (4 weeks ago) I took a pink strapless top into the Sewing Centre in Johnsonville to get a new zip put in it, because for about 2 years it had been sitting in my drawer with a broken zip so I finally decided to do something about it! It was a Tuesday and when I asked how long it would take she said 1 week (and wrote so on the order slip thing she then gave me). 1-2 weeks later I recieved a call saying my top had not been fixed yet because the size of zip I want would have to be ordered in, and did I still want that zip or go for a smaller one. So I went for the smaller one, in order for it to be done sooner and cost less. Yesterday morning I rang and left a message asking if it had been fixed because I hadn't had a call. This afternoon I got a call back.

Her: Your top is ready to be picked up.
Me: Oh ok, no one called me to say so.
H: Well, there's a note written here to say someone called you.
M: [So are you calling me a liar?] Well no one did.
H: Do you have an answerphone?
M: No, but I gave you my cellphone number which has a voicemail on it.
H: Oh, we don't usually ring cellphone numbers, someone should have told you that.
M: O. [WTF?] Well no one called me.
Anyway, could you please hold it there for me because I won't be able to pick it up for about another 3 weeks.
H: O! I thought it was urgent!
M: No [dumbass, I never said it was. Plus, if it was, too bad, cos I brought it in 4 weeks ago], it was never urgent, it's just that no one rang me to say it was ready.
H: Oh well it's here now for you to pick up.
M: Ok thanks. [Bitch].

I mean, really. I think I overaggerate a little (I think Adrian thinks I do too), but can't people just be nicer? I won't recount the conversation but also, Cam (Sam?) from Jericho property management, you suck too.

ANYWAY.
Today was the most beautiful day we've had in a while. It was really sunny but quite windy. But still good. And I had a nice sleep in which is also great. I read lots of Harry Potter, in the sun, which is also great. Adrian napped, and I watched his mouth twitching (I swear he was talking to someone in a dream).

Come on people! Nathan wins the wierdest word competition with foible. Nathan, I'm starting to think it's only you that reads our blog. We love you, but come on! More readers please! Otherwise Nathan will feel like a loner.

It's so lonely here...I wanna know what blog all the cool kids are hanging out in :)

But if I have the comment system to myself, I can use it for personal business:

todo:
buy cheese
buy catfood
do invoicing
try to take over the world

Also, why can I make text in a comment bold or italic, but not underlined??

Ah Claire, I had a very similar conversation not all that long ago, although I can't remember what it was that I had not been phoned about.

But yeah. I find life goes more smoothly if you live by my motto. "People are stupid". Then whenever they do somthing that isn't stupid I am plesantly surprised, rather than being constantly disappointed.

So, having re-read your post made me wonder (in a moment of insight) if the note saying you'd been called actually meant that you'd been called about the delay due to the zip... not that you'd been called to pick it up... 'Cause if some particularly clever person had just written 'called 14/07' or whatever then when someone goes to ring you to tell you it's finished they'll assume you've been told it's ready when in fact you don't have a clue.
