May 22: Copenhagen Day 4 + Cruise Departure
Today was the day of our departure! After another yummy breakfast at our hotel, we had a short walk around again. I'd been wanting to try a Snickers ice cream bar ever since I saw they were sold over here and they seemed to be a little elusive. We finally found one and it was SO good. I love Snickers chocolate bars and the ice creams were just as good - yum! [Note for Mum, I had a Daim ice cream in Sweden- haven't seen them in England???; also excellent!] / We boarded our cruise at around midday and our room was ready very quickly. After lunch we explored a little and had a look at the food and entertainment on offer. / Departure from Copenhagen was around 7pm and we sailed north, beginning our trip around the island of Zealand in Denmark (which Copenhagen is on) and then south towards Germany. This meant we had good land views for the night, including Kronberg, the castle we saw a few days earlier. At one point there was an amazing lightning storm over the land we were sailing past which lasted about 15 minutes. We enjoyed watching that and had a yummy cocktail each in the meantime. / For dinner we went to the churrascaria on board, Moderno (Brazilian bbq type food). Never been to a churrascaria before - after a salad starter there is a list of about 10 different types of meat, all cooked on a type of skewer similar to donor kebab but larger pieces of meat - chops, steaks, chicken breasts, sausages. They bring you each of these meats to try. Needless to say, we couldn't try them all. So much meat! The sides were yummy too - black beans, buttered rice and garlic mash. The dessert was tempting but we just could not fit it in!
